Board Editor
Learn how to use the Board Editor to start a game from any position
It is often desirable to start a game from a position other than the starting position, allowing you to analyze a position and play out different lines. The Board Editor is a great tool that gives you the freedom to experiment and learn from the AI assistance.
Setting Up a Board Editor Game
- Click the "Board Editor" option on the home screen.
- Setup any legal position.
- Press the "Load" button.
- Your ChessUp 2 board will alert you if you have setup an illegal position.
- Choose who will be first to move when the game starts. You select this by pressing either the white king image or the black king image. The text above the images will change to reflect your choice.
- Scroll down the screen to setup up castling rights. The board will automatically turn these on/off given the position. If the king or the rooks for a particular side are not in the start position, these rights will be defaulted off and you will be prevented from turning them on.
- Once you have setup who moves first and the castling right, hit the "Next" button.
- Turn on/off the evaluation bar.
- If you would like to play a two player game, toggle on this option. Otherwise, the game will be setup as an AI game.
- If you select the two player option, you can adjust the assistance level for each player (internet connection required).
- If you are choosing to play the AI:
- Select the "I Play As" option by clicking the white or black king.
- Select the AI strength. The first 11 options are the built-in AI. Options 12-25 are Stockfish and require an internet connection.
- Select if you would like to have the Hint Limit turned on or off.
- Press "Play" and your game will start.
