AI Assistance Levels
AI Assistance Levels
ChessUp 2 provides different levels of AI assistance by ranking the strength of each available move by color.
There are 4 colors used on the ChessUp board: purple, red, blue, and green.
It is important to note that each of these colors look different on light and dark squares, but each color means the same thing (e.g. light green means the same as dark green).
There are five different levels of assistance. The meaning of each color changes based on what assistance level you have selected.

-
Beginner
- Green = Best, Excellent, Good, Inaccuracy, Mistake
- Red = Blunder
-
Novice
- Green = Best, Excellent, Good, Inaccuracy
- Blue = Mistake
- Red = Blunder
-
Intermediate
- Green = Best, Excellent, Good
- Blue = Inaccuracy, Mistake
- Red = Blunder
-
Advanced
- Green = Best, Excellent
- Blue = Good, Inaccuracy
- Red = Mistake, Blunder
-
Master
- Green = Best
- Blue = Excellent, Good
- Red = Inaccuracy, Mistake, Blunder
Different levels of AI Assistance can be selected for different players, and should be used depending on the level of skill of the player.
For example, the computer will evaluate a move as an "Inaccuracy" if it leads to a worse position, even if there is no obvious mistake, and even if the opponent fails to capitalize on the mistake. This can lead to confusion while using the "Master" assistance level, which will view it as "Red", just as badly as blundering a piece in a single move.
Players learning the game should usually remain to "Intermediate" and below, as the differences between the Best, Excellent, and Good moves are often minor and difficult to understand.
These can be used alongside Hint Limits to customize ChessUp to meet the needs of any player.
