Changing the Brightness on ChessUp 2

Learn how to change the brightness on your ChessUp 2

To change the brightness of the playing surface lights and the screen follow the instructions below.

  • From the home screen, scroll down and select "Settings."
  • In the settings menu, select the "Brightness" option.
  • In the brightness menu, there are 4 options:
    • Auto
    • Low
    • Medium
    • High
    • Custom

  • The Auto option uses a built-in ambient light sensor to determine the brightness in the room and automatically sets the ChessUp 2 brightness accordingly. If the room is really bright, your board will increase its brightness. Conversely, if the room is very dim, your board will reduce the brightness.
  • High, medium, and low set the brightness to a particular level from which it will not change.
  • Custom allows you to set the square light brightness separately from the screen brightness.

Note: These options (except for "Custom") are retained when your ChessUp 2 is turned off. The next time the board is turned on, it will use the settings you selected. This is something to be aware of if you don't use "Auto" and set it to "Low." If you then turn it on in a bright room, you might not be able to see the board lights.

If you use the custom settings, the board will default back to "Auto" on the next power cycle.

Note: Battery life if related to how bright the lights and the screen are. Using lower brightness settings or using Auto is a good way to extend play time.
